Andhra Pradesh Police on Tuesday booked a case against Telangana leaders K. Chandrasekhara Rao and M. Kodandaram for their alleged offensive remarks, an official said.

A case under Indian Penal Code Section 153 A (Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony) was booked against them at Arandelpeta police station in Guntur.

The case against Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao and Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) convenor M. Kodandaram was booked on a complaint by a leader of Samaikhya Andhra Joint Action Committee (SAJAC).

The complainant alleged that the two Telangana leaders made offensive comments at a public meeting in Hyderabad on  Monday.

Meanwhile, Congress leader A. Jayaprakash also lodged a complaint against Telangana leaders at a police station in Vijayawada. He demanded that the police register sedition case against Chandrasekhara Rao and arrest him immediately.

He alleged that the TRS chief was creating hatred among people of the two regions of the state and also belittled parliament and the prime minister.

The police said they would seek legal opinion before taking further action.
