Karimnagar man kills son and pregnant wife for dowry

Karimnagar: In a shocking incident, Neelam Ramesh, a resident of Chakunta village, Karimnagar district strangled his pregnant wife and his one-year-old son to death for additional dowry on Saturday night.

According to police, after killing his wife and son, Ramesh tried to end his life by jumping into a well in the outskirts of the villager.

However, he was rescued by the farmers and his condition is said to be stable now.

Ramesh pestered his wife Neelam Anita, 28, who was five month pregnant for additional dowry as he was jobless after returning from a Gulf country four years ago.

Anita’s brother Anjaiah visited her home as her mobile phone was switched off , only to find the dead bodies of his sister and her son. The deceased had earlier called her mother and told her she would return home as she could not handle the harassment anymore.

“We had given Rs.10 lakh in cash, and 10 tolas of gold as dowry at the time of the wedding. In addition to what we gave at the time of wedding, we gave Rs.5 lakh during their son’s cradle ceremony. But he kept torturing Anita for more dowry,” Anjaiah said.

A murder cum dowry harassment case has been booked on Ramesh and his family based on Anjaiah’s complaint.
