Nationwide Truck Operators Strike From July 20

Hyderabad: Truck operators across the country have given call for nationwide strike from July 20. The strike, they said, was to pressure the Centre to bring uniform pricing nationally besides reviewing petroleum rates once in three months, among other demands.

The demands include the abolition of TDS, rationalisation of presumptive income in Section 44AE of Income Tax Act and E-Way, bill operational issues and amendment of Road Safety Bill.

The Telangana lorry owners too have expressed their solidarity for the strike and said they to will be participating. Speaking to media here today, lorry owners demanded that the lorries be given an exemption from toll tax across the country. The third-party insurance premium too must be reduced, they said.

Telangana Lorry Owners Association president N Bhaskar Reddy wanted the State government to implement a single-permit system across the two Telugu-speaking States.
