Hyderabad software professional arrested for raping NRI techie

Hyderabad: A 29-year-old Hyderabad based software professional was arrested on Saturday for allegedly raping a woman he met on a dating app.

The accused laced the woman’s softdrink with alcohol and raped her as she fell unconscious.

The accused, who is currently residing at Tolichowki in a rented flat, is working in an IT firm in Banjara Hills. He met the victim, also a resident of Tolichowki on the dating app – Tinder. The victim is also a software engineer and unmarried.

According to police, the both met on Tinder and became friends, following which they started communicating through Facebook, WhatsApp and phone as they became more familiar with each other.

In her complaint to the police, the victim stated that she had gone out with the accused for a bike ride on Tuesday when the incident took place. She said that she realised that she had been raped only after she woke up the next morning.
