Girl ends life as parents could not build toilet at home - Sakshi Post

Nalgonda: A teenage girl distressed by her plight to go out for toilet every day committed suicide as her parents could not afford to build one at home in Gundala village in Nalgonda district on Monday.

Rekha (17), who was studying junior intermediate at a local college in Gundala mandal headquarters, ended her life by immolating herself after years of her plea with the parents for constuction of a toilet at home could not be materialized. Parents Kodaparti Sattaiah and Nagamma are not rich enough to construct a toile at home. Generally, in villages, men and women go out in the open to answer the nature's call and the teenaged girl was obviously depressed over this practice.

However, her parents failed to redress their daughter's grievance due to their poor financial condition. The girl took the extreme step when the parents were away from home and succumbed to third degree burn injuries though the locals tried to put out the flames. The police are investigating into the case.
