Aiyoh Finds Its Way Into Oxford Dictionary

You can use 'aiyoh' in an English sentence and turn up your nose at anyone who tries to correct you and clarify to them that the word is now a part of the English language. Yes, it's official. 'Aiyoh', a word  commonly used all over south India, has found its way into the Oxford dictionary.

'Aiyoh' is used to express a range of emotions including surprise, fear, sorrow, pain and hurt, among other things.There are dozens of words from Indian languages which have gone 'official' after being recognised by the most authoritative source, Oxford dictionary of English.

For instance, among the many words which have found their way into Oxford dictionary from Tamil, are Ginger (injiver), mango (maangaai), coir (kayiru) and catamaran (kattumaram).
