Cop bashes up couple after road mishap

Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, a couple on Friday night was brutally beaten up by the police near Lifestyle shopping mall in Begumpet, Hyderabad.

The couple, Jyothi and Chandu suffered injuries when they fell into a pothole near Begumpet's Lifestyle building. Angry at the condition of the roads, they staged a sit-in at that very spot, due to which there was a traffic hold-up.
When the police constable tried to evict them, they resisted and a scuffle ensued. The police reportedly beat them up. They were taken to the police station, where they were reportedly thrashed again
The police say that the couple were drunken and entered into a brawl with the police,
However, Chandu's wife Jyothi said they were not drunk. "The police constable, brutally attacked us and when I tried to protect my husband from being beaten, even Iwas thankeresist my husband from indiscriminate attack, they even b attacked on me," she said.
