Chairs, stones thrown at MP Lagadapati's convoy in Vijayawada

Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Raja Gopal faced Samaikyandhra heat on Saturday as his vehicle was attacked with chairs and stones by the Samaikyandhra agitators.

Extending his solidarity to the deeksha taken up by the Samaikyandhra supporters at Auto Nagar against the Congress decision of bifurcating the state, the Vijayawada MP visited them today.

However, the protestors have prevented Lagadapati from entering their camp saying " Lagapati a Samaikyandhra betrayer. Come after resigning.”

They demanded Lagadapati to resign from his post and join the movement to save the state.

Later, he was mobbed by some protestors and raised “Lagadapati Go Back” slogans. The situation turned tense as the agitators entered into a minor scuffle with the MPs supporters.  In the melee, some of them pelted stones.

It is learnt that the protestors warned Lagadapati of serious consequences if didn’t leave the venue immediately.

When the protestors continued to attack his vehicle, the police came to his rescue and took him away from the mob.

Though the car was damaged, the MP escaped unhurt in the attack, sources said.
