Centre 'No' to AP Cabinet expansion? - Sakshi Post

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy today met Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and is understood to have discussed the long-pending Cabinet reshuffle and the current political situation in his state.

Reddy met Gandhi, her son Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders and Union ministers during his day-long visit to the capital.
Sources close to Reddy said he failed to get a green signal from the Congress high command for the much-delayed expansion of his Cabinet though he was reassured of his continuation in the post.
There was speculation that he would be replaced as chief minister but following his meeting with Sonia that was put to rest, they said. Reddy is believed to have sought Sonia's permission for filling about six vacant slots in his council of ministers as well as dropping some rebellious ministers, they said. Though Sonia gave the go-ahead to the chief minister for filling up various nominated posts in the government corporations, she did not grant his wish for Cabinet expansion, the sources added. He briefed her about the September 30 Telangana March by statehood supporters in Hyderabad and the steps taken by his government to handle it, the sources said.
The meeting comes in the backdrop of speculation that Kiran Reddy might be shown the door as the Congress grapples with the contentious Telangana issue as well as challenge from YSRCP president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
However, Reddy has been maintaining that he will complete his full term and will also bring the party back to power in 2014. With Rahul, the chief minister discussed issues relating to Andhra Pradesh Youth Congress.
Reddy invited Sonia and Rahul to attend some Congress functions in Andhra Pradesh to boost the cadre's morale. He later met President Pranab Mukherjee and invited him for the World Telugu Conference to be held in temple-town of Tirupati in December, the sources said.
