Bala Sai trusts ignores IT notices on seized cash
The self proclaimed godman Bala Sai Baba's ashram remained closed on Wednesday.
The Income Tax department had sent several notices to the Bala Sai Trust, asking them to furnish details regarding Rs 6.75 crore cash seized by the police recently. However, the IT authorities did not get any reply to notices from the trust.
The department on Wednesday also sent notices to the trust office in Hyderabad, asking its representatives to appear before the department and give full details on the amount seized.
The police had seized Rs 6.75 crore from an auto rickshaw in front of the Director General of Police office in Lakdikapul on November 7.
A day after the incident, Rama Rao, chairman of the Bala Sai Trust, from Kurnool claimed the Rs. 6.75 crore cash and said he had withdrawn the cash from Andhra Bank Domalguda branch. He said cash was meant for buying land in Mysore to build an ashram.
The police handed over the seized cash to Income Tax officials on the same day.
