Axe falls on Minister D L Ravindra Reddy

In a bid to gain control over the Cabinet, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Saturday axed his detractor D L Ravindra Reddy from the cabinet.

Action against DL came after his return from New Delhi meeting AICC president Sonia Gandhi. DL was charged with resorting to anti-government and anti-party activities. Ravindra Reddy was on his sojourn in London. The Chief Minister sent a letter to Governor E S L Narasimhan dropping DL from the Cabinet.

It is now established that Kiran Reddy is allowed by the party high command to make his line clear for ‘purification’ of the cabinet. Some more members of the cabinet are likely to be removed shortly. Kiran Reddy’s tour to Delhi appears to have yielded favourable results as he met Sonia Gandhi, Gulam Nabi Azad and also senior Congress leader Motilal Vora. Removal of DL from the cabinet sent shock waves in the Congress circles across the state.
