APSRTC bus fare hike unavoidable: Botsa

Transport Minister Botsa Satyanarayana said today that the hike in APSRTC bus fares became unavoidable because of the increase in diesel prices.

The Corporation could not afford to absorb the hike since a one-rupee price-hike in diesel burdened the organization to an extent of Rs.67-70 crores, he said.
The State government was forced to resort to an increase in bus fares much against its wishes, he said and asked parties not to politicize the issue. Botsa requested people to accept the government's decision viewing it in proper spirit.
