Vellampalli Srinivas Takes Charge As Endowments Minister, AP Temple Priests Get 25% Salary Hike

Amaravati: YSRCP Vijayawada West constituency MLA Vellampalli Srinivas took charge as Minister for Endowments in the State Secretariat in Andhra Pradesh, on Friday.

On this occasion, he signed his first file where the salaries of the temple priests in the state were increased by 25 per cent. He also directed officials to take action on the issues related the construction of houses for the endowments employees and transfer of employees immediately.

He also ordered for adequate measures to be taken to avoid any problems for devotees who visit Tirumala Tirupati temple.

The minister said that the temples would take necessary steps to uphold the traditions and customs of the temples. He alleged that the TDP leaders tried to encroach upon the lands of temples. Vellampalli said that his government would always support the protection of the temple land and that if anybody tried to encroach the lands they would be punished severely.

Vellampalli Srinivas said that for better and efficient administration of temples old governing bodies and committee would be dissolved and new committees appointed.

The Minister had earlier offered prayers at Lord Balaji temple in Tirupati on Wednesday morning. He said that he would soon hold review meetings regarding the suspicions on Lord's jewelry safety, and clear them as soon as possible . He also mentioned that the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Trust Board was yet to be dissolved, and that the cabinet has decided to remove the board members through an ordinance and constitute a new trust board soon, he added.

He also promised to solve the issues about the hereditary priests wand an inquiry will be held regarding the shifting of Lords gold jewelry. He also said that any allegations about the jewelry or issue related to corruption within the Board turns out to be true, strict actions will be taken against the responsible authorities.
