Factionalism In TDP Plays Out On Social Media

facebook poll created by TDP workers - Sakshi Post

Kuppam: The TDP which is already reeling under the embarrassment of major defeat in the recent Assembly elections is currently grappling with factionalism played out in an ugly manner on social media.

Picking itself up from the recent defeat, TDP wants to focus all its energies on upcoming local body polls in the State. To the frustration of the top leadership, however, TDP cadre in Chandrababu Naidu’s Kuppam constituency are conducting Facebook polls pitting the aspirants of MPP, ZPP and other local body posts within TDP against each other.

These posts are put up with photographs of different leaders representing different factions within the party in the district. Facebook users in the district are voting in hordes. As one gets to know who voted whom on Facebook, the opposing leader from the other faction is threatening such voters through phone calls and even in-person. Due to this, internal differences in party are reaching a peak with cadre from different groups even attacking the other group physically.

The issue has become major talk of the town in Kuppam and the adjoining villages in the district. Especially the politically active youth with the access to Facebook are seen discussing about these polls openly and seriously.
