Andhra assembly's winter session to begin tomorrow

The Andhra Pradesh legislative assembly's winter session will begin tomorrow and go on until December 20. It's Business Advisory Committee (BAC) met here this evening and decided to hold the session for seven working days with the main discussion on the draft AP Re-organisation Bill-2013 which will be referred to the House for its views.

The BAC also decided discuss recent cyclones which devastated the state and besides the fallout of the Krishna River Water Disputes Tribunal Award which went against the interests of Andhra Pradesh. AP Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and Leader of Opposition N Chandrababu Naidu skipped the BAC meet chaired by Speaker Nadendla Manohar.

YSR Congress leader Y S Vijayayamma wanted the assembly to discuss the state bifurcation issue and adopt a resolution for a united state.
All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi asked the government when the draft Bill on the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh would be referred to the assembly. As and when the Bill is referred, I will announce it in the House and then hold another BAC meeting to fix the time for discussion, the Speaker said.

What if a no-confidence motion is moved against the government, Akbaruddin asked, to which AP Deputy Chief Minister Damodara Rajanarasimha replied, We will see when it comes. Though AP Finance Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy suggested that the session be limited only to two or three days, all others wanted a longer session and finally the it was decided to hold the session for seven working days, sources said.
