3 Held While Selling 100-Year-Old Antique Telescope

Hyderabad: Three people were arrested on Tuesday for trying to sell a 100-year-Old antique Victorian marine telescope along with its stand at Chandrayangutta in city.

The trio identified as Shaik Dasthagiri(40), a real estate dealer, K. Ajay(27), a resident of Miyapur and Md Khaleel(45), a resident of Falaknuma. According to police, Dasthagiri previously worked in Kothagudem Thermal Power Station. When he was working there, a colleague Manish of West Bengal handed over the 100-year-old telescope to him which was made by W.Ottway and Co. Ltd, Ealing, London in 1915.

Dasthagiri with the help of Ajay and Khaleel hatched a plan to sell the telescope at a huge price. On Tuesday, the trio went to Omer Hotel to show the instrument to a client where they were nabbed by the police.

The police seized the telescope and launched a hunt to nab Manish and find out how he procured the optical instrument.
