Wife kills husband who became an obstacle to her illicit affair

Hyderabad: A housewife in Hyderabad enlisted the help of a youth to eliminate her husband, whom she saw as an obstacle to her illicit affair with her classmate. She reported to the police that her husband died after consuming alcohol. They were however able to get to the bottom of the plot.

According to the details given by Raidurgam police station CI, Durga Prasad, Gavini Satyanarayana Rao (39), from Cherala of Prakasham district and Sontipaayi Bhavana (25) of Hindupur, fell in love and got married in 2009. They both lived in Silver Springs apartment of Srinivasa Colony in Manikonda, Hyderabad.

Satyanarayana a cloth merchant by profession, who incurred a loss in the business sometime ago, began suspecting his wife's fidelity and kept quarreling with her about this.

Earlier, on the pretext of collecting her educational certificates from her parents, Bhavana told her husband that she was going to Hindupur. However based on her call record information Satyanarayana realised that she was not in Hindupur, but in Tirupati.

With the intent of confronting her there, Satyanarayana arrived in Tirupati. He then called his wife and told her that he knew that she was in Tirupati and that he too had arrived there. Bhavana took her classmate and paramour Kumar along with her to meet her husband. This aggravated Kumar and led to a fight. They however decided to go away, each to their native places, Bhavana to Hindupur and Satyanarayana to Cheryal.

Realising that her husband would only be an obstacle for her illicit affair, Bhavana hatched a plot with Kumar to kill her husband. On April 15, she arrived at their flat in Hyderabad and telephoned her husband who was now living with his friends in Jubilee Hills. Informing him that she had come back to their flat, she asked him to come and see her.

Then according to her pre-conceived plan, she made her husband buy biryani and alcohol. While she had the biryani, she made sure that her husband consumed the alcohol. At around 6 pm, she telephoned Tanveer (22), a youth she brought along from Hindupur and asked him to come to their flat. While Tanveer held down her husband' legs, Bhavana used a kitchen tool to choke her husband to death.

She then reported to the police that after consuming alcohol, her husband fell down and died. The police however noticed the pressure marks on Satyanarayana's neck and suspected foul play. Upon interrogation, Bhavana confessed to her crime.

Tanveer, told the police that he had no prior knowledge about Bhavana's intent to kill her husband, and that he however went along with her plan as she had threatened to kill him too. The police have taken Bhavana and Tanveer into custody and are on the look out for her classmate Kumar.
