Hyderabad: Led by Congress and BJP, Opposition parties and civil society organisations in Telangana have decided to intensify and vehemently oppose the K Chandrashekar Rao government's decision to demolish existing Secretariat and shift Assembly to a new building.

An all-party round-table conference held in Hyderabad on Sunday saw representatives from Congress, TDP, BJP, TJS and other political and civil society organisations holding deliberations to chart out an action plan in order to exert pressure on the government to withdraw its decisions.

Speaking on the occasion, Telangana Congress president N Uttam Kumar Reddy observed that Assembly building is a heritage structure and has the history of serving the needs of united Andhra Pradesh. KCR's decision to shift the Assembly is purely based on his superstitions, he hit out.

"In the past, it is the same KCR who said Metro Rail works should not touch Assembly building. There is enough space to meet all the needs. One don't see any reason to shift it else," he added.

Congress working president Revanth Reddy alleged that KCR's decisions stemmed from his interest in personal benefit, luxurious life, and superstitions. BJP President K Lakshman said KCR was of the feeling that nobody was there to question him on any of his decisions. TJS President Kodandaram warned that Opposition would not allow KCR to have free run and added that they would oppose any decision that is against people's wishes.
