Police Complaint Filed Against Yuvraj Singh Over Casteist Remarks On Chahal

NEW DELHI: A police complaint has been filed against former India cricketer Yuvraj Singh for a casteist remark that he made during a live chat recently on social media. Yuvraj Singh had allegedly made a casteist remark towards Yuzvendra Chahal while having a conversation with Rohit Sharma on Instagram.

Speaking about Chahal's TikTok videos, Yuvraj had said: "Yeh b***gi log ko kaam nahi hai yeh Yuzi aur isko (Kuldeep)." Rohit replied that, “Yuzi ko dekha kya video daala hai apni family ke saath. Maine usko wahi bola ki apne baap ko nacha raha hai, pagal toh nahi hai tu.” This has gone viral on social media and 'Yuvraj Singh maafi mango' is one of trending topics on micro-blogging website. The comments of Yuvraj didn't go well with the netizens and the cricketer is facing severe backlash on social media.

According to the reports, Dalit rights activist and advocate Rajat Kalsan has filed a complaint against Yuvraj Singh in Hansi in Hisar. Hansi SP Lokendra Singh said that he has submitted the investigation to the DSP City.  

Hansi based lawyer Rajat Kalsan has filed a complaint and he said that, "Yuvraj Singh's comment has hurt the sentiments of Dalits as millions of people have watched this video on social media".

Kalsan speaking to a news daily said that the DSP-level officer had registered his statement under Section 161 of the CrPC on Wednesday. “I had also submitted a DVD containing controversial remarks in support of my complaint. The investigators watched this DVD on Wednesday."
