National Dengue Day: 5 Effective Ways of Reducing Dengue

 - Sakshi Post

A virus spread by mosquitoes called dengue can result in flu-like symptoms like high fever, a terrible headache, joint and muscle pain, and rashes. It can cause dengue hemorrhagic fever in severe cases, which can be fatal.

Here are five tips to protect yourself against dengue: Remove mosquito breeding grounds, Utilise insect repellents, Put on protective gear, Put in window and door screens, and encourage neighborhood cleanliness.

  • Check your surroundings frequently, and get rid of any areas with standing water where mosquitoes might grow, like flower pots, old tires, buckets, and containers. To stop water from accumulating in these spaces, empty, clean, or cover them.
  • When outdoors, particularly during the daytime when dengue-transmitting mosquitoes are most active, spray insect repellent on exposed skin and clothing.
  • Wear long sleeves, long pants, socks, and shoes while in places where dengue is a serious threat to prevent exposed skin. As a result, there may be fewer mosquito bites and a lesser probability of getting dengue fever.
  • To keep mosquitoes out of your living spaces, use screens on your windows and doors. To ensure that screens are efficient in keeping mosquitoes out, fix any damage.
  • Encourage community efforts to keep things clean and use proper waste disposal techniques. Take part in or lead initiatives to increase public knowledge of dengue prevention and the value of reducing mosquito breeding grounds.

Keep in mind that dengue prevention requires teamwork, and regular application of these precautions can help lower the risk of dengue transmission in your neighborhood. If you develop dengue symptoms, consult a doctor right away for a diagnosis and the best course of action.
