'High'derabad spends Rs 700 crore for New Year festivities

Hyderabadis are still on a high! This New Year celebrations have notched up several records. Figure out how Hyderabad fared this New Year in figures: 

* Hyderabad guzzled up close to Rs 150 crore worth of liquor. The excise department laughed its way with wads and wads of cash. Rs 150 crore's was spent on liquor in 196 bars and 60 pubs

* Hyderabadis have spent close to Rs 700 crore on December 31 and January 1 as against Rs 400 spent last year.  * But, it is the bakers and confectioners who walked away with the cake. They sold close to 200 tonnes of cakes in the city. Global Bakery alone sold more than 2 tonnes of cake.  * Officially, close to 140 New Year bashes were organised. From actors to DJs to celebrities, P3Ps were in full strength and PYTs dominated the dance floors. Tickets sold like hot cakes and the even organisers minted money. The tickets ranged from Rs 200 to Rs 5000. 

* Mera Event webisite alone sold tickets worth Rs 3 crore on New Year eve.
