'Don't sleep! Sleep and you'll die.'

'Don't sleep! Sleep and you'll die.' Joking, you must be thinking. But, these five words made countless people of Khammam, Warangal and Nalgonda shun bed, shun sleep and spend the whole night awake.

All across Khammam, the word spread that those who sleep on Wednesday night would never wake up due to 'peculiar planetary position.' And taking this a wee bit seriously, the people spilled on to the roads, played all night, kept chattering and waited impatiently for the dawn to break.
Many in Warangal, Nalgonda and Khammam districts reported that they received phone calls at 2 AM asking them not to sleep, lest they would die. Scared by this, thousands spent sleepless nights.
Interestingly, several people felt it dying in sleep was far better than waking all night. More interestingly, all of them woke up to a very good Friday morning!!
