Why Did Palakollu MLA Sleep in A Graveyard?

Palakollu MLA Nimmala Rama Naidu - Sakshi Post

A TDP MLA of Palakollu grabbed headlines by sleeping at a crematorium to dispel fears that there were no ghosts. This was his way of asking the construction workers who had stayed away from carrying on development work near the area because of superstitious beliefs .

Nimmala Rama Naidu, who was inspecting the development work in his constituency found th at the progress of work at the Hindu graveyard was slow. After learning that the labourers were staying away owing to beliefs in presence of spirits in the area, Naidu took it up as a challenge to remove their myths on the existence of ghosts.

The labourers were scared of renovating the graveyard due to the fear that the buried dead bodies could surfac e while digging the ground.

After having dinner at the site , the MLA slept at the graveyard to reassure the workers that no ghost had attacked him for sleeping inside the crematorium. The graveyard at Palakole had been under negligence for several years. But this time the government sanctioned Rs 3 crore for renovating it eight months ago.

Though funds were released , none of the contractor s came forward to take up the work even after inviting tenders. Finally , they found a contractor who took up the work of revamping the crematorium. But the workers he hired were hesitant on work ing there .

"The plan was to spend three nights in the graveyard to show t hat there are no supernatural powers in the area," MLA Rama Naidu said. On the other hand, the pictures of the MLA sleeping inside the crematorium have gon e viral on social media.
