Vizag Boy Pursuing MS In Robotics In Oregan State University Drowns To Death

Visakhapatnam: Mannar Sumedh (27), who was pursuing MS in Robotics from Oregon State University, U.S., died after he accidentally drowned in the Crater Lake on Tuesday.

Sumedh had reportedly jumped from a height of 25 feet from a rock cliff known as Jumping Rock, a popular recreation area in the park on Sunday, Crater Lake National Park authorities said. They traced his body 90 feet underwater on Tuesday and informed his parents immediately after retrieving his body.

Sumedh's father, MS Kumar works as a senior executive in the Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd in Vizag. Sumedh who hailed from Visakhapatnam had graduated from NIT-Warangal and earlier worked in Samsung at Bengaluru before leaving to the US for further studies. The company had applied for patent for three of his innovations. He was scheduled to complete his MS in June 2020. His family members said that Sumedh was a very bright student and had wanted to become an international expert in robotics.
