Telangana High Court Orders Judicial Inquiry into Saidabad Case Accused Raju's Death After PIL Filed - Sakshi Post

HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court ordered a  judicial inquiry into the death of the  Saidabad rape and murder case accused Pallakonda Raju's death, after a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed on Friday. Professor Laxman, President of a Civil Rights Association filed the petition and alleged that there were many doubts over the death of Raju. He alleged in his petition that the Raju’s death was a custodial death.

To this extent, he filed a Lunch Motion Petition in the High Court which took up the matter for hearing. While the petitioner claimed that Raju’s death was being portrayed as a suicide by the Police, Advocate General B S Prasad stated that the accused committed suicide. The AG also stated that they had taken the video recording of the deposition of seven witnesses, who claimed to have seen the accused. The one-hour postmortem video of the accused was also taken, the AG submitted.

The High Court directed that the videos be handed over to the Warangal District Judge before 8 pm tomorrow evening. The petitioner stated that the circumstances leading to his death must be investigated and should be a court-monitored process. To which the High Court directed the Warangal 3rd Metropolitan Magistrate to conduct an inquiry and submit a report.

 The Court directed the Magistrate responsible for the investigation and ordered to submit the report in a sealed cover within four weeks.

P Raju the accused wanted in the case of rape and murder of a six-year-old girl at Singareni Colony in Saidabad on the evening of September 9, allegedly died by suicide after his body was found on a railway track in Jangaon district on Thursday. Family members of the accused claimed he might have been killed.

Based on preliminary investigation, a senior police official said the accused P Raju, was found walking on the track by gangmen, who asked him to move from the track, but he did not and was hit by a Konark Express train. The Warangal police were informed about the incident and was termed as a clear case of suicide. After verification of the body, they established the identity of the deceased, based on the tattoos on his hands. The body was shifted to MGM government hospital in Warangal for post-mortem. After the postmortem, the body was handed over to the family members and sent for cremation.
