Bengaluru International Schools Hike Tuition Fee?

 - Sakshi Post

Coronavirus crisis has spiralled out of control across the country. From celebrities to ordinary people, children to and elderly people--everybody is being affected by the Covid infection. Getting hospital beds and oxygen concentrators for Covid patients is a herculean task. In this tense situation, private schools in Bengaluru have reportedly decided to increase the tuition fee for the academic year 2021-22.

Despite the pandemic crisis and lack of offline lessons, some private unaided international schools in Bengaluru are reportedly increasing the fees for the 2021-22 academic year.

A community of parents has sent a petition to the state's primary and secondary education minister, as well as officials from the state department of public instruction. In addition to increasing the fee by 6% to 15%, schools have also set a payment deadline for parents.

"We urge you to fix the annual/tuition fee increase as it is difficult to pay a 6% hike as we are already burdened with the current fee during this pandemic situation," Greenwood High School parents wrote in a letter to minister S Suresh Kumar.

"The worst thing is that when there are no offline lessons, schools collect miscellaneous fees." The fee structure ranges from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 7 lakh per annum without boarding facilities in International Schools, according to the information given by parents who are sending their children to various international schools.

"Bearing in mind the currently daunting scenario, the board has taken appropriate measures for the current academic year and told all members of the school community," Greenwood High School said in a statement.
