Modern Telugu poet and film lyricist Adrusthta ​​Deepak (71) passed away on Saturday night. He died of a heart stroke and breathed his last at private hospital in Kakinada. Adrushta Deepak received many awards and accolades as a songwriter and drama artist in AP.

Born on 18th January 1950 in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, Adrushta Deepak studied MA and taught history and literature in various institutions. He was well known for his revolutionary literature, plays, and songs in Telugu films. His body of works include: Kokilamma Padalau 1972, Agni 1974, Samarasankham 1977, Pranam 1978 and Jungle 2008 (printed and aired between 1978-2008). He was also the editor for Chetana magazine (Arasam Poetry Collection).

He received the Kalasagar Award in Madras for Best Songwriter (1984) for the song  Manavathvam Parimalinche Manchi Manasuku Swagatham from the film Neti Bharatham, by Governor Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma.

He was also awarded the Best Teachers Award by State Government in 2003.

Telugu film celebrities and lyricists expressed grief over Deepak's death on social media.
