AP Govt Won't Cancel Inter, Class 10 Exams: Adimulapu Suresh

Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh state government said that they are not planning to cancel the exams. Class 10 and intermediate exams have only been postponed and will not be cancelled. Education Minister Adimulapu Suresh confirmed the news while taking part in the programme in East Godavari.

The ministers came together to unveil a statue of Dr B.R Ambedkar at JNTUK premises. Ministers Suresh, K. Kannababu, P. Viswaroop and Ch. Venugopala Krishna, Kakinada MP Vanga Gita, Kakinada MLA Dwarampudi Chandrasekhar Reddy, Satish Chandra, and collector D. Muralidhar Reddy were present at the event.

As the cases were really high for the past few months, the exams were postponed. The health of students, teachers and staff was of the highest priority. The planning was that mostly the cases will see a fall till July, after which holding the exams will be possible. The state government will decide on this and take decision accordingly.

Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy believes that it is important to hold exams to maintain educational standards. It helps, ready the students for the future and the more difficult exams that they will face. Having said that, the health of these kids is paramount. So the exams will only be conducted after following all the necessary rules and guidelines. The health of students, teachers and everyone else will be the top priority.

The infrastructure in the NTUK, JNTU-A, SV University and Andhra University will be looked after, to ensure that it is further strengthened. The funds have been decided for it. It will go in a phased manner, with the cost in phase 1 being Rs 3,600 crore.

Owing to the situation, the exams in many states have already been cancelled. The Telangana government had earlier cancelled the 10th class exams and Intermediate first-year exams and promoted students to the next class due to the surge of COVID cases in the State.
