Kuppam: Naidu Fails, CM Jagan Passes with Distinction

 - Sakshi Post

Kuppam has been a home constituency of TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu for over 30 years. Despite getting elected from this place multiple times, Naidu has done too little in terms of local area development. As the YSRCP is determined to wrest Kuppam constituency from Naidu in the forthcoming Assembly elections, we take a look at some of the development activities carried out by the ruling party over the last 57 months.

During his 14 years of chief ministership, Naidu failed to elevate the status of his home constituency Kuppam to municipality. In what is considered to be the greatest achievement of YSRCP in Kuppam is converting it into a municipality. The chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy also accorded it the status revenue division and police sub-division.

Continuing its administrative growth in Kuppam, the YSRCP government established new village secretariats, 83 Rythu Bharosa Kendras (RBKs) and 76 village clinics. The government also undertook the construction of 4,871 houses in the municipality.

Even though Kuppam constituency is held by his arch-rival, the chief minister YS Jagan distributed plots to 15,727 eligible beneficiaries. The state government has also plans to provide additional 15,000 house sites to the shelterless people.

YSRCP extended the benefits of its welfare schemes like Vidya Deevena, Aarogyasri, Social Pension, Navaratnalu to all the eligible beneficiaries. Under the Vidya Deevena, the coverage was extended to 12,093 from 8,459 beneficiaries while 11,504 people were covered under Vasathi Deevena. The government has expanded health access to 12,093 beneficiaries under the Aarogyasri scheme.

As part of its agenda of economic empowerment, the YSRCP government provided Rs 85 crore to 19,921 individuals while it disbursed Rs 1,400 crore out of the Rs 1,899 crore allocated for the welfare programmes in the region.

Similarly, more than 82,000 families out of 87,941 were extended benefits under the Navaratnalu schemes. A record 44,640 farmers were provided Rs 241 crore under Rythu Bharosa programme.

Recently, the YSRCP government constructed a 123.641 km-long canal at a cost of Ts 560.29 crore. This project will fill the 100 minor irrigation tanks and provide irrigation to 6,300 acres of agricultural land in Kuppam constituency. Through the Kuppam branch canal, the state government has ensured the supply of Krishna water to the Kuppam people.
