CM Jagan Explains Why Handloom Weaver Fielded as Managalagiri Candidate

 - Sakshi Post

Mangalagiri: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday explained the reason for picking Murugudu Lavanya as YSRCP’s candidate to take on TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu’s son Nara Lokesh in the crucial Mangalagiri assembly constituency in the May 13 polls.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the chief minister said Mangalagiri constituency is home to a significant population of handloom weavers. Recognizing the importance of this voting bloc, we consulted with party colleague Alla Ramakrishna Reddy, popularly known as RK, and decided to field his younger sister Murugudu Lavanya, who comes from a handloom weaving family, as our candidate.

During his Memantha Siddham bus journey in Mangalagiri constituency on Saturday, CM Jagan interacted with the local weavers and criticised the opposition TDP, particularly Naidu and his son Nara Lokesh.

He said look at the actions of Chandrababu Naidu and his son. They are contesting in this region where the Backward Class communities form a sizable majority, yet are spending massive amounts of money in their election efforts. The scenario is similar in Kuppam, another area with a large BC population. I urge you to take note of the stark difference in our approaches.

Continuing his attack on the opposition TDP, CM Jagan said Naidu has betrayed the trust of handloom workers in the past. Look back to 2014 when he was part of an alliance government, his actions then showed a blatant disregard for this community's interests. If we do not remain vigilant during this election, we risk being misled by him once again.

"Chandrababu is coming up with a colourful manifesto. He’s trying to fool the people with initiatives like Super Six and Seven. The three parties have come together in the past as well," CM Jagan said, referring to the TDP's election promises and alliances.
