Chandrababu Playing Double Games To Divert People’s Attention From Palanadu

Chandrababu Playing Double Games To Divert People’s Attention From Palanadu - Sakshi Post

Kommineni Srinivasa Rao

The role of the Opposition is to engage in healthy criticism of the Government and point out any mistakes. However in the case of the state of Andhra Pradesh, the situation differs. It seems that the Opposition has only one aim of spreading falsehoods and diverting the people’s mind from the actual truth.

The latest news now is that the Leader of the Opposition, AP Assembly and TDP Chief N Chandrababu Naidu is on a new tirade - read ‘drama’, of setting up a camp for victims of ‘alleged harassment’ by the YSR Congress Party. Using this a platform for canvassing his view points, Chandrababu says that the people of Palnadu region in Guntur district have left their houses out of fear against the atrocities and he is now their ‘saviour’ and sheltered them. Now how many of them are actual victims is not known, but many facts are coming to light.

But what is clear is that this was being done to divert the attention of the people from the actual perpetrators of these atrocities like the mining mafia and land grabbing done by the TDP leaders in the past five years of their regime. And this whole drama of ‘Chalo Atmakur’ was just a diversion drama to save the TDP leaders.

If you examine the case former TDP MLA Yerrapathineni Srinivasa Rao and his mining mafia, had harassed many people in his area .They had approached the High Court, which had in its directives entrusted the investigation into the illegal mining to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) agency for investigation into the illegal limestone mining by former TDP MLA. This kind of a directive was something unheard of against Chandrababu or the TDP earlier.

There is a strong belief that Chandrababu set up this camp to divert the attention from the mining case and protect Yerrapathineni . Interestingly the TDP Chief has neither commented nor responded about this case. Even if he did what could he say in favour of the TDP leader whose case is now being investigated by the CBI. This was also the first case to be entrusted to the CBI after YS Jagan Mohan Reddy took charge.

Chandrababu is also said to have given instructions to his party cadre not to interfere with Dendaluru TDP Leader and former MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar, who was involved many cases including abusing Dalits and also a lady Tahsildar. Few party MLAs like Nimmala Ramanayudu, Ramarajulu are on the verge of filing a complaint against him, which shows how things are turning out be in the Party.

One can say that 60 to 70 percent of the TDP’s failure was due to Chandrababu’s governance, the rest 30 to 40 percent was due to leaders like Chintamaneni. Not that Chandrababu is not aware of this, but he seems to have come to the feeling that the party can run only with people like them.

Chandrababu’s double stance once again comes to the fore as he dons the role of the Opposition head. How? When the YRSCP were in the Opposition false cases were foisted against them and many a times they were unable to even file a case against the TDPs atrocities. When YS Jagan was supposed to conduct a candle light rally for the special category protest, he was stopped on the airport tarmac itself.

But now when it’s Chandrababu’s turn in the Opposition, he plays the victim’s card to the hilt. No one should point a finger against him and if they did he would claim that the Government was harassing him and his leaders and was capable of spreading this as the truth as well. Because of these double game tactics Chandrababu is losing respect.

If you look at his close aide and former Assembly Speaker Kodela Siva Prasad Rao’s case. Would Chandrababu approve Kodela’s act of taking Assembly furniture and keeping it in his son’s shop? He doesn’t speak about it and neither does he let the media ask him any such questions.

Which brings another aspect of his media management skills to the forefront. But unfortunately these skills could not help run the government nor could he win the elections.

People of the State could see through this and gave a befitting answer. But now he is using the same media management skills to tarnish the name of the Government.

What he needs to do is a serious introspection of his actions. The Leader of the Opposition should behave in a dignified manner, but not his case, which is exactly in the opposite manner. One should never underestimate people’s intelligence and only time will teach him a lesson as revealed in the results of the Assembly Elections…
