Will Sonia Gandhi Contest Lok Sabha Polls from Telangana?

Hyderabad: Days after forming the government in Telangana, the Congress is gearing up for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. As part of this the Congress Political Affairs Committee held its first meeting at Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad on Monday. 

The meeting was called to review the party’s preparations for the upcoming general elections in the country. Chief minister Revanth Reddy, AICC incharge Manikrao Thakare, all ministers and other senior leaders attended the meeting. The Congress PAC thanked the electorate for giving a change to Congress in the just concluded assembly elections. The party reassured the people that the promised six-guarantees would be implemented within 100 days. 

After the conclusion of the meeting, the Congress PAC passed a resolution stating that they want Sonia Gandhi, who is the chairperson of Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP), to contest Lok Sabha elections from Telangana. The senior leaders have said that former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi has contested the elections from Medak seat and now they wish to see Sonia Gandhi fighting general elections from any parliamentary seat in the state. 

Speaking to the reporters, Mohammed Ali Shabbir, the convenor of Congress PAC said the BRS government did not follow the fiscal discipline. We’ll talk more about this on the floor of the House.
