Fourth Global Academic Conference on the K-pop Band BTS to be Held in Malaysia

 - Sakshi Post

On August 16 and 17, the National Art Gallery and Universiti Malaya (UM) will host the Fourth BTS Global Interdisciplinary Conference.

The International Society for BTS Studies (ISBS) and UM are organising the conference, which will include studies by academics who are also fans of the Korean pop group BTS.

The conference has previously taken place in institutions in South Korea, the United States, and the United Kingdom.

In a statement, the conference's organisers said that this year's subjects would be "BTS in Southeast Asia" and "BTS and the Future."

"BTS's future is at an intriguing juncture. The band hasn't performed together since June 2022 since its members are required to serve in the mandatory military service required of all Korean men. Despite this absence, its legacy lives on in the hearts of the ARMY, its global fan base.

"What is the future for BTS? Or how will the group shape the future? What will happen to its fan base, especially the ARMY?,” the statement read.

The deadline for submitting 300-word abstracts for those who want to present at the conference is June 10.

Students and participants in the conference must pay a registration fee of RM300, while presenters must pay RM500.
