Lokesh's Self Goal: Falls Prey to Fake News by Eenadu

 - Sakshi Post

The opposition Telugu Desam Party has been making allegations and propagating false information against the ruling YSRCP government and Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy ahead of the upcoming assembly and Lok Sabha elections. Ahead of CM Jagan’s Memantha Siddham bus yatra, TDP national secretary Nara Lokesh raised questions on social media regarding a container vehicle that allegedly entered the CM's camp office without following proper security protocols.

Lokesh picked the news item instead of picking holes in the story. He tweeted the newspaper clip while asking the police why the vehicle was allowed to enter the premises without proper checking.

Continuing its smear campaign against the ruling YSRCP, the TDP-friendly media has deliberately published a false report about a pantry vehicle entering the Chief Minister's camp office in Tadepalli. The Eenadu has attempted  to mislead its readers claiming that a ‘suspicious’ vehicle was seen travelling in the wrong direction on the road leading to the camp office.

Using words like ‘pre-authorized vehicle’, ‘wrong direction’, Eenadu is trying to sensationalise the news. Reporting that the vehicle number with the registration number ‘AP16Z 0363’ has a police sticker on it, the media report further created confusion among the readers. The report also asked questions like why did this vehicle enter the premises and what was inside etc.

In its preliminary probe, the authorities analysed the footage of CCTV cameras installed near the media point of the Camp office and found that the ETV reporters were taking photographs and videos of the moving vehicle. Authorities are considering taking action against the ETV news channel for taking photos and video without permission and also using it to deliberately publish and broadcast false news reports to tarnish the image of the government.

In its haste to criticise the YSRCP regime, the yellow media did not verify the details and published a news report based on pure speculation. Meanwhile, it has been clarified that the vehicle in question, bearing registration number AP16Z 0363, is a pantry vehicle which was carrying kitchen items for the CM's ongoing bus yatra.
