East Godavari: An Intermediate first-year student committed suicide as she was unable to bear the harrassment of a boy in the name of love from Gogannamatam village in Mamidikuduru mandal in East Godavari district.

According to police, Madhu Sree hanged herself to a tree in the premises of her house on Friday. The victim was harassed by one Akhil Rajesh from the same village forcing her to love him. The issue was going on for over a year when she was studying Class X in her village. When the matter was brought to the police station, police counseled both and let him off as he was a minor. In order not to worsen the matters, Madhu Sree's parents shifted her to a school in neighbouring village. She finished her school and was studying Intermediate in Sri Chaitanya College.

Akhil Rajesh did not mend his ways despite warnings from police. He continued to harass her, particularly at bus stop when she used to go to and come back from college. Thinking that her parents' respect would be marred, she resorted to the extreme step.

Madhu Sree's father who has been in Gulf rushed back to his village. Police are investigating the case and a manhunt is launched for the accused who is on the run. Apparently, knowing about Madhu Sree's death, Akhil Rajesh posted a TikTok video as his WhatsApp status grieving over her death with a tagline 'Have you left me?'
