Bank Holiday Today for Wangala: List of Banks open or closed today, Friday, November 7

City Wise List of Banks open or closed today, Friday, November 7
While most banks across India remain open today, banking operations in Shillong are suspended in observance of the Wangala Festival, as per the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) 2025 holiday calendar.
The Wangala Festival, also known as the “Hundred Drums Festival,” is a traditional post-harvest celebration of the Garo tribe, primarily observed in the northeastern states of Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Assam. The festival honours Saljong, the Sun God, with offerings and thanksgiving rituals for a bountiful harvest.
According to the RBI’s Negotiable Instruments Act, there are 11 designated bank holidays in November 2025, including national, regional, and RTGS holidays, apart from the regular second and fourth Saturdays and Sundays. Customers are advised to review the official calendar to plan their financial transactions in advance.
Today, except for Shillong, all major cities—including Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Guwahati—will have banks functioning as usual. The closure in Shillong is specific to the Wangala celebration, which holds significant cultural importance for the region.
Despite the closure of physical branches in Shillong, digital banking services such as online fund transfers, NEFT, RTGS, mobile banking, and ATM withdrawals remain fully operational. Customers can also access account-related services like chequebook and demand draft requests online.
The city-wise operational status for Friday, November 7, 2025, shows that banks in all other Indian cities—including Agartala, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, and Vijayawada—are open for regular business.
As the festive season continues across India, customers are encouraged to leverage digital platforms for uninterrupted banking convenience and to schedule branch visits keeping local holidays in mind.
