Railways Brings Streaming Of Free HD Movies, Web Series On Trains, At Stations

New Delhi: In a delightful news for passengers in the Indian Railways, commuters can now stream HD movies, web series on trains as well as railway stations free of cost. The move is aimed at making journeys more relaxing and enjoyable.

The project will be taken by RailTel which is a MiniRatna or a public sector enterprise by the Government of India that looks after giving broadband and VPN services. RailTel will be putting up a Request for Proposal (RFP) in the first week of August, a railway official told Trak.in.

The passengers will be able to able to stream high-quality videos without buffering. They can access it on their phones and laptops or other devices. The content will be periodically refreshed.

“RailTel will provide preloaded multilingual content; movies, music videos, general entertainment including TV serials and devotional programmes, lifestyle-related etc in moving trains. In the case of trains, to ensure buffer-free services, media servers will be placed," the railway official was quoted saying by Trak.in.

This is the second such initiative by the Indian Railways to gain non-fare revenue. Earlier, Indian Railways had allowed advertisements on the engines of the train of the Indian Railways.
