AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy extended greetings on the occasion of Milad-un-Nabi, the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammed on Sunday, November 10.

Milad-Un-Nabi is the day celebrated to commemorate the birth of the Prophet Muhammad. It is celebrated in most of the Muslim countries across the world and in India as well in the third month of the Islamic calendar. While the Shias celebrate it on the 17th of the month, the Sunnis celebrate on the 12th of the month, according to the Islamic calendar.

Eid-e-Milad-Un-Nabi or Malwid is celebrated in different ways in different regions of the world. In India, the festival is observed with the large processions. On this day, people distribute gifts and food to the poor. The day is celebrated by offering prayers in the mosques which are decorated with lights.
