Man Duped Of Rs 15 Lakh With Fake Medical Seat

Vijayawada: A man lodged a complaint with Chilkalapudi Police alleging that he was cheated by a person who promised him a seat for his son in the Kolkata National Medical College.

Katta Naga Mohanarao in his complaint, alleged that he got a call from Pankaj Kumar Sharma, who introduced himself as the Deputy Secretary of Education Department in Medical college. He promised him a medical seat for his son in that college, and told him to pay Rs 15 lakh. He had initially paid 14 lakh in four instalments.

After the payment, the complainant was asked to come to Kolkata along with his son. When they reached the medical college and inquired about Pankaj Kumar Sharma, there was no one bearing that name in the college.

Knowing that he was cheated, Mohanarao returned to Machilipatnam and lodged a complaint with the police.

The complainant disclosed all the transaction details with the police.

The Circle Inspector of Police Venkatanarayana registered a case. Investigations are underway.
