Mitron App: The 'Indian TikTok' Crosses 50 Lakh Downloads

HYDERABAD: The Mitron app made by IIT-Roorkee alumnus Shivank Agarwal and his team based out of Bengaluru has crossed over 50 lakh downloads. The rival app was launched in April 2020 and it is among the top 10 most popular apps in the country on Google Play store. Mitron is a short video and social media platform similar to TikTok.

The app is available free on Android and the users can create, edit, and share videos as well as browse through videos across the country. The Mitron app also has a 4.7 rating now. The app's description on Google Play reads as, "Our mission at Mitron is to create a platform where people can come and entertain themselves with small videos posted by people across the globe and at the same time create a social incentive for people to share and create their own videos."

In Mitron app, a user can create short 15-second videos and a new theme of 'Light Humour' was introduced. The interface of Mitron looks similar to that of Tiktok. A lot of people have downloaded the Mitron app and the number of Mitron App downloads skyrocketed now. It is very simple to download this app through Google Play Store but this app is not available in iOS.

ByteDance's TikTok app has got millions of users in India and is now facing criticism. From the past three weeks, phrases such as BanTikTok, DeleteTikTok, and BlockTikTok are trending on social media.
