YSRCP MPs Will Resign On Special Category State Issue: YS Jagan

In an attempt aimed at taking the issue of according Special State Status into the national discourse, YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said all his party MPs would resign in June-end and fight the by-elections.

Making this announcement at a press conference organised on Wednesday at Hyderabad, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy asked TDP MPs to resign too. "If 25 MPs fight by-elections together, our demand would domnate the national discourse. The attention of the nation would be riveted on the issue. We want Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to take up the issue with Prime Minister Modi and if the Special Category Status is not accorded, he should withdraw his ministers from Modi cabinet," YS Jagan said.

Charging Chandrababu Naidu with mortgaging the interests of Andhra Pradesh on all issues including riparian rights and Special Category Status, for his personal agenda, YS Jagan said the YSRCP has given a three-year deadline for both the State and the Centre on the issue of Special Category Status.

Listing the benefits that acrue from the Special Category Status, he poohpoohed Chandrababu's foreign joints in chartered plane.

"Everytime Chandrababu Naidu goes on a foreign tour or takes up some event, the state exchequer loses heavily and nothing is achieved. His Davos tour was a dud. In the name of Godavari Pushkarams, the state had lost Rs 1600 crore. Rs 1500 crore was lost due to Krishna Pushkarams. In the name of one-day capital city work launching, Rs 400 crore were spent. For temporary secretariat, Rs 600 crore were spent. Yet, nothing much has been achieved," he said.

He also ridiculed Chandababu Naidu's claims of news industries coming up in the state. He said last year's partnership summit at Vizag claimed that there wer e328 MoUs worth Rs 5.67 lakh crore. But, the Government itself had admitted that only 24 of them have begun production. On the other hand, Government records show that the total industrial investments in 2014-15 were just Rs 4138 crore and Rs 5562 crore in 2015, which way way to below the claimed investment. To top it over, 24 per cent of the MSME units were closed in the country.
