Tribunal proceedings on Vamsadhara waters

The first day of proceedings commenced on Wednesday in the tribunal on Vamsadhara water sharing in New Delhi.

Presenting its arguments in the Tribunal, the AP government said there was no provision to draw more than 25 TMCs of waters from Vamsadhara as of now. The Odisha Government was using only 8 TMCs of water out of 115 TMCs allocated to it and the remaining 80 TMCs was going into the sea as waste. The Govt contended that in view of growing demand for water nation-wide, the water should be utlised properly. The arguments are likely to be continued on Thursday also.
