Telangana Government Employees To Be Paid November Salary In Cash

Telangana government has announced that the November salaries for its employees will be paid in cash to the tune of Rs 10,000, the rest will be credited to their accounts.

Hyderabad: The Telangana government will pay its employees Rs 10,000 in cash in their salary for November to mitigate their hardships due to demonetisation.

The decision was taken following a request from the President of Telangana Non-Gazetted Officers Union Central, Hyderabad, a circular issued by the state Finance department said. The State Bank of India, Andhra Bank and other nationalised banks have been addressed in this regard, it said. The banks were directed to make separate counters for employees and if necessary function till late hours.

The state government pays pay Rs 2,500 crore every month as salaries and pensions. There were apprehensions that the state may impose a cut in salaries due to fall in revenues following demonetisation. However, the government has stated that the salaries will be paid in full.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday said that the state was suffering revenue loss due to demonetisation. He said if the current trend continues, the state may suffer revenue loss of Rs 7,500 crore during the current financial year.
