TDP MLA Surrenders Weapon After Creating Ruckus At Club

Vijayawada: Former MLA Raavi Venkateswara Rao surrendered his revolver at the One Town Police Station, here on Friday, after he created a ruckus at a local club by firing into the air.

It may be recalled that tension prevailed at Gudivada Club on Thursday afternoon when Venkateswara Rao opened fired with his revolver in the air. Shocked at the sudden sound of gunfire, people present in the club ran for cover. Eyewitnesses also said that the former MLA was in an inebriated condition when he fired into the air. Police, who rushed to the spot, asked Venkateswara Rao, a former Gudivada MLA, to surrender along with his weapon.

The and Telugu Desam Party's (TDP) leader holds a licensed revolver and informed the media that he came to the police station to renew the licence. However, the police have not confirmed if they received any application for license renewal of the firearm.
