South African Man Held At Shamshabad Airport For Carrying Cocaine

Hyderabad: The task force sleuths of the Excise Department on Tuesday arrested a South African national at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad for possessing cocaine.

The accused Alex Victor (40) landed at the airport here from Mumbai and on a tip-off the officials detained. Officials seized over 10 grams of cocaine from Victor and came to a conclusion that it was brought to sell to a prospective customer. A senior official said, “We are yet to trace to whom the he was planning to sell."

The incident came against the backdrop of Telangana Excise department last month busting a high-profile racket selling drugs such as lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) and methylenedioxy-methamphetamine (MDMA). The SIT has so far questioned 12 persons connected to the Telugu film industry in connection with the expose.
