Padayatra: Toddy Workers Meet YS Jagan, Seek Allowance
Toddy workers, mainly women, met YSRCP Chief,YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on his mass outreach initiative, Praja Sankalpa Yatra and sought his help in getting drought assistance. They lamented that trees had dried up and therefore, they had no means to earn their livelihood. They sought justice through a proper system of assistance which can help them tide over the crisis which they were confronted with.
Meanwhile, victims of submerged areas of the Veligonda project also met the YSRCP President and elaborated on their situation. Narrating their plight, a local farmer, Undela Venkateswara Reddy Reddy lamented that compensation to victims of 600 acres submerged by the project, had not yet reached them. Similarly, in Unit 4, compensation with respect to assignment had also not been rendered, as yet. RR package would be of greater use to them, in comparison to a special package, they said. Though surveys had been conducted in the past, farmers did not get any compensation in this respect, they pointed out. YS Jagan lent a patient ear to their grievances and assured them of all possible help.
