100 Crore Corruption: HMWSSB GM Kumar Caught in ACB Raids
A senior official of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has come under the Anti-Corruption Bureau’s radar after officials conducted raids in connection with a disproportionate assets investigation in Hyderabad.
The officer, identified as S.A.L. Kumar, currently serving as General Manager (Engineering), Project Division-VIII, is suspected of accumulating assets worth nearly ₹100 crore during his service period.
ACB Conducts Simultaneous Raids
Teams from the Anti-Corruption Bureau carried out searches at multiple locations linked to the official across Hyderabad and nearby areas. Raids reportedly took place at his residence in Mallapur, Secunderabad, along with several associated properties.
Officials stated that searches are still continuing and more details are expected to emerge after verification of documents and financial records.
Cash, Jewellery and Property Papers Seized
During the raids, investigators reportedly recovered: Around ₹1.05 crore in cash Large quantities of gold and silver ornaments Property-related documentsSources said officials are also preparing to inspect bank lockers as part of the ongoing investigation.
Properties Across Hyderabad and Nizamabad
According to preliminary findings, Kumar allegedly owns several high-value assets, including:

Tankers Allegedly Sold at High Rates
Sources linked to the investigation claimed that water tankers were allegedly supplied unofficially at inflated prices during his tenure. Apartments reportedly paid around ₹5,000 per tanker in certain cases.
Investigators are also examining allegations that unofficial tanker bookings generated large daily earnings.
25 Years of Service
Kumar has reportedly completed nearly 25 years in service and also worked as General Manager for the Red Hills division in the past.
Officials indicated that the investigation may widen further, with the possibility of searches extending to relatives and other connected individuals.
Investigation Continues
The Anti-Corruption Bureau has not yet released the final valuation of the seized assets. Officials said the investigation is ongoing and more information will be disclosed after detailed scrutiny of financial transactions and property records.
