Operation Sindoor was a covert military strike reportedly carried out by India in response to a major terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam region. Although Indian defense authorities have not officially confirmed it, the operation is widely believed to have targeted terror infrastructure in territories occupied by Pakistan.

According to multiple reports, the operation saw the deployment of precision airstrike weapons, including the SCALP and HAMMER missiles, known for their long-range capabilities and high accuracy. These air-to-surface missiles, originally of French origin, have been integrated into India’s Rafale fighter jets, giving the Indian Air Force a significant tactical advantage.

According to reports, the strikes aimed to destroy training camps and launchpads used by terror groups allegedly supported by Pakistan's intelligence apparatus.

The code name “Sindoor”—Sanskrit for vermilion—symbolizes blood and sacrifice, suggesting a strong retaliatory message. The operation marks a shift in India’s military posture, showing readiness to respond with technologically superior force while keeping strategic ambiguity intact. While Pakistan has neither acknowledged the strikes nor confirmed any damage, defense analysts see Operation Sindoor as part of India’s evolving doctrine of proactive deterrence.

PM Modi Chairs Meeting of Union Cabinet

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday chaired a meeting of the Union Cabinet, hours after Operation Sindoor was launched to destroy terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Asif Wants Peace

Pakistan Defense Minister Khawaja Asif says Islamabad is open to reducing tensions between the two countries if India de-escalates the current situation. His statement comes in the wake of India's overnight strike on Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, targeting terrorist bases.

Speaking to international media, Asif confirmed that Pakistan would not initiate any hostilities but would respond if provoked.

"We have consistently maintained over the past two weeks that we will not initiate any hostile action against India. However, Asif stated that we will respond if we come under attack. “If India chooses to step back, we are fully prepared to wind down this tension."

Currently, Pakistan's defense minister has revealed that he was not aware of any diplomatic talks between the two countries. India struck nine terror-related sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam.

JeM Chief Mazood Azhar Says 10 Family Members Killed

Masood Azhar, the chief of Jaish-e-Mohammed, claims that Operation Sindoor killed 10 of his family members. 

Those killed include Azhar's elder sister and her husband, his nephew and his wife, another niece, and five children of his family were reportedly killed in a statement released by the JeM chief.

The statement added that a close aide of Azhar and his mother and two other close associates were also killed in the Indian strikes.

Indian Army Releases Videos of Strikes on Pakistani Terror Camps

After briefing the media on Operation Sindoor and how it was conducted in 25 minutes in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, the Indian Army released footage of its airstrikes done as part of Operation Sindoor. Nine terrorist camps were targeted and were successfully destroyed.
