Haryana Declares a Restricted Public Holiday on Nov 25 for Guru Tegh Bahadur’s Martyrdom Day
The Haryana Government has officially declared November 25 (Tuesday) as a restricted holiday across the state in honour of the 350th martyrdom day of Guru Tegh Bahadur. All government offices, institutions, and organisations observing restricted holidays will follow this notification.
As part of the commemoration, the state will organise a grand state-level event in Kurukshetra, which will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This major gathering aims to honour the spiritual legacy and unparalleled sacrifice of the ninth Sikh Guru.
During the programme, the state government will pay tribute to Guru Tegh Bahadur’s ideals, focusing on his extraordinary courage, his commitment to defending religious freedom, and his enduring message of equality, compassion, and social harmony. Authorities emphasised that the Guru’s martyrdom stands as a timeless symbol of protecting human rights and safeguarding the right to practice one’s faith without fear.
The event in Kurukshetra is expected to draw devotees, scholars, and citizens from across the region, making it one of the most significant observances of the year. The state government has ensured elaborate arrangements to manage crowds and facilitate smooth conduct of the celebrations.
The restricted holiday on November 25 allows citizens to participate in the ceremonies, reflect on Guru Tegh Bahadur’s teachings, and join the statewide homage to his legacy.
