Prasanna Vadanam Movie Review, Rating

Prasanna Vadanam is Suhas' latest release of the year. After 'Ambajipeta Marriage Band', he is in a different zone of acting these days. The film under review is directed by debutant director Arjun YK, who was recently described by his 'guru' Sukumar as a logical person. Story:

Surya (Suhas) is an RJ at an FM station. Due to a road accident in the past, he suffers from face blindness. One fateful day, he is witness to the gruesome murder of Amrutha (Sai Swetha) by the roadside. Since he suffers from face blindness, he is unable to help the investigators crack the case. ACP Vaidehi (Raashi Singh) and the Sub-Inspector Nithin (Nithin Prasanna) take up the case of Amrutha's murder. What facts do they unearth in the process? How do the facts of the case embroil Surya? Answers to these and more are found in the second half.

Analysis:

These days, new-age directors are conceiving fresh concepts with clarity. Arjun YK joins the list of such filmmakers with Prasanna Vadanam, his maiden venture. The premise of the film is exciting because the male protagonist suffers from face blindness. Since he is vulnerable and has a tragic past, everything about his character is effective when the screenplay is tight. He comes across a young girl, played by Payal Radhakrishna, and falls in love with her. Some of the rom-com scenes between them are impressive.

The story gathers weight once the crime thriller scenes take off. The interval twist is gripping. The unexpected twist delivers a bang for the buck. The film slowly turns into a survival drama with an edge-of-the-seat treatment. The climax is superb. The twists and turns are grounded well. The flashback episode could have been better.

Performances:

Suhas gets to do a memorable film. His performance is absorbing. Payal Radhakrishna is cute. Raashi Singh is powerful in the role of a no-nonsense cop. Her character will be loved by the audience. Nithin Prasanna is another natural performer. Sai Swetha, Kushalini and others fit the bill.

Vijai Bulganin's music is decent. S Chandrasekaran's cinematography is a plus. Producers Manikanta JS and Prasad Reddy TR have done a nice job at ensuring the best production values.

Verdict:

Prasanna Vadanam is a decent thriller with twists and turns. The performances, especially by Suhas and Nithin Prasanna, are appealing.
